Ash Wednesday

Another day. Another blast. As if a new film's releasing every Friday, we are being 'released' from the face of the earth as if some kind of bloody layoff's on the roll. Except that it happened on a Wednesday (Nov 26th '08). 'Ash Wednesday' is celebrated by followers of Jesus all over the world to commemorate his victory over evil. Seems like this phrase has got a different meaning, courtesy? terrorists.

How long we have to show that we are resilient? to whom? to world which condemns and forgets? to the terrorists that okay you can come and ravage again and that we are Indians and 'we are like this only' since time immorial?! Enough of this shit thing....

Where the hell was Raj Thackeray and his 'Sena' brigade when Mumbai was being massacred? What happened to his 'Marathi Manoos' agenda when his fellow Marathis were being slained mercilessly by the 'outsiders'? I am damn sure he must be getting ready for his next level plan of action on the North 'outsider' Indians. I dare him to go out and speak now for this!

Already we can hear the barking of the opportunist politicians for they got, yet again, a chance to rape the country to accumulate their ill-gotten wealth for their 'after-life' expenses. Thank You and Come again! for we are a nation known for our hospitality since pre-historic times!

Recent example of the above breed is the veteran communist Kerala CM, Achutanandan. His remark, 'Even a dog wont come near slain NSG commando, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's house if he's not there'. I wonder why his guards haven't reacted yet when their own kin's been insulted!

For how long we do keep blaming the good-for-nothing politicians? As the reports are emerging that our own local Indian group helped the outsiders to fuck us in our own land makes me feel more remorse, ashamed and angry.

Add to this, the media coverage of the entire mishap was an act of complete misuse of freedom of speech. NSG and Indian Army bosses (God help us!) going public with the strategies being used to rescue the hostages and kill the terrorist were being aired Live! Don't we have an ounce of common sense that terrorist masterminds would be watching the same and instructing them to tackle the situation?!

I am sure, the outsiders would be celebrating their victory over mutilated Indian/Israeli bodies in some fucked up mountain 'holes' by spending British pounds on American drinks, Afghani opium, Pakistani babes and Iranian food served by Chinese!!! What a fucking globalisation?!!!

Reading today's dailies (Dec 3rd, 08) gives a good feeling about the Isrealies and their much celebrated love for their fellow Israelies no matter which sub-group, region, color, caste they belong to. The whole of Israel mourned the deaths of their brethren in the attacks. And we Indians, huh...wot a joke? forget it!!! Shame on us.

We are collectively responsible for the miserable state we are in. It's high time that we should 'look within' than elsewhere and question our own ideals and principles.

P.S. : No need to bury the terrorists in Indian Soil, for they don't deserve it. Don't burn them, for their ashes pollute the Indian Air. Don't drown them, for they pollute the Indian Water. Don't even feed them to the animals, for the terrorists' flesh and blood demonises the beneficiary. Just send them back the way they came from, for it is the 'Karma' of every individual to return to their roots!!!

A Rs. 50 Crore Yawn!

A mere 10 mins into the film, Yuvvraaj - Music Binds Love- you would know that you're in deep trouble, a realisation that u have wasted your time and of course, your money!!!

The problem with Yuvvraaj is that its not a bad film...its a boring film.

The movie opens with Katrina playing a cello with a voice over by Aushima. and then something happens...the hero enters and that's it...the trouble begins...

Salman enters the scene with his 'anglicised' - european accent , who happens to be a chorus singer for some xyz opera group for whom Katrina, sole daughter of a billionaire eccentric doctor father, Boman Irani who's against his daughter romancing a living-on-rent-life Salman. Boman was right actually!

Apparently, as one of bollywood's cliches, our hero is an enstranged-second son of a billonaire Indian-English Father (Javed Sheikh) who's sent away after his brawl with his autistic elder brother, Anil Kapoor.

Soon, the father dies and the battle for the power of money begins. Enters third arrogant-playboy son of the only deceased person in the movie to claim the same...

Add to this mess, a bit of cartoon characters, a blue-eyed-mama (why the fcuk blue?), a cleavage-popping-'shuddh'-hindi-speaking bhabhi and other ignored extras...and there you have, Yuvvraaj.

Right from scene 1, the movie's filled with silly dialogues and poor characterisation. Even the serious scenes are so unintensionally funny that u wont feel anything for anybody including Anil's mentally-retarded-musically genious-character.

In one scene, the doctor who examines Anil, even proclaims that autistic people would be genius in classical music...seriously is this the new Ghai-Theory?

Music and Background music are just awesome, with good cinematography though was a bit inconsistent in some places. Editing is sloppy.

Set pieces are ok though in one post-interval scene, salman's house seems to have windows of 5ft high from inside and 2 ft high from outside. now, i donno wot technology might have been used here. but it didn't matter personally...

Salman is totally misfit as Yuvvraaj as it required someone energetic and lively. Add to this, he is is a chorus singer..Gawd! its really someone's talent to find out when he's acting and when he is not and when he is doing both simultaneously...didn't get it right? don't worry...same here...

Katrina looks gorgeous...but she should learn to act. How long can one fool the audience?

Zayed has two great scenes, one shouting and another crying -which give comic relief to the bored audience. this is really worth watching..!

Anil plays autistic but one is confused whilst he is singing...u can't figure out if he is singing or boxing or whatever....His is the only performance...

Subhash Ghai, i think, is still in 1985.  Can somebody tell him that its 2008?

Dostana - Movie Review

There is a serious sequence in the post-interval where Priyanka is pretty unhappy and perturbly worried that 3 of'em, Priyanka, AB and John like the same person (Bobby Deol). It starts off in a very serious manner and you end up laughing out loud for her feelings towards the whole scene! Situations like these are remembered no matter how good/bad the movies are.

That AB and John pretend to be gay is no secret, this movie is quite funny and entertaining with all the mix and match of regular Hindi films stuff like screeming 'Pun'jabi mom with Karva Chauth formula applied to a 'gay' scenario.

Yup, its quite a norm now that brains are to be left behind, if you go by the recently released movies: the biggest flaw being how come two seemingly hot and sexy guys can't get a flat/house for rent in Miami and that they are so desparate that they would do/be anything/anyone to get a place! Honestly, the whole movie is enjoyable with lengthy first half and should-have-been-trimmed second half.

Boman Irani (Priyanka's boss) and Kirron Kher (AB's mom) in guest roles are amazing. Sushmita Mukherjee (Priyanka' aunt) is strictly okay though her 'Marilyn Manroe Act' is tolerable. Bobby Deol is just fine where as Shilpa Shetty is a sex-bomb!

Priyanka is damn beautiful and sexy (in a bikini especially) and yes, she does act quite comfortably. The ಮ್ಯೂಸಿಕ್ (Vishal-Shekhar) really gels well with the movie though i couldn't remember even a single track later. Cinematography is average as me being an aficionado, expect some breath taking Miami locales.

The film indeed belong to the official (they receive resident permit on gay couple terms) gay couple AB and John. Dialogues are fun to hear and both in fix situations are really good to watch.

After Thought: Gotto know from movie that Gabbar Singh was gay! And so were Munna and Circuit! Now how wacky is that!!!

And Obama it is!

After listening and watching to an almost 2-year gruelling cam'pain'ing, Americans voted for an African American to be their president for the first time in history. This seems to be a symbolic gesture to the whole world about the Equality America has been preaching for years. How much of this is followed in spirit and work needs to be seen.

Congratulations to America. Hope Obama is their hope against hope in over coming the present shitty economic situation they are in. And so is the world.

One thing am really astonished was/is the way Indian media coverage of the US elections. All the major news channels covered the whole euphoria surrounding the election with so much enthusiam that it felt as if the elections are being carried out in India!!! Hopefully they will show same enthu to some of the burning and 'relevant' issues we currently have and help in bring about a change rather than just give footage to some silly freaking sensational news!!!

America Votes!

The world's most powerful nation is voting for the world's most powerful man. Couple of years ago, there was this joke that World's most powerful person is a MORON! Obama camp definitely doesn't look like one though the same can't be said of McCain camp especially with Sarah Palin to give him company!!!

All the exit polls predict the first ever Black presidential nominee (read Obama) - a winner but who knows. As they say, 'Its America anything can happen!'.

Soon the cat would be out of its hat. Only thing that needs to be seen is how dumb or clever its gonna be compared to the present most dumbest in American history.

Lets see.

Happy Formation Day

Today's the day when Karnataka was formed officially in the year 1956. Though the identity existed much much and very much (am going bonkers over here.. hehe) before than that, our so-called 'far-sighted' statesmen thought the unifying the regions on the basis of linguistic pursuits would be the bestest possible solution to the newly freed, partitioned and formed India from the...'you-know-who'. Now we know the result of this decision for all of us to see as to what is happening in neighbouring Maharastra over the alleged 'outsiders'.

Coming to our state's Formation Day, it took only a fraction of a sec to realize that today is Nov 1st. The loud music playing across the street where a stage has been set to celebrate this vibrant spirit is anything but proof of disturbing my hard-earned sleep!

Fine! i can forgive them for there is a much better reason for alterning my saturday sleep mode.

Yeah i am proud of my roots being a Kannadiga in particular and Indian in General and Most important in patriotic sense.

And the Masterstroke, Kannada got the 'Classical Language' status which couldn't be more appropriate timing and i think, the celebration would be more enticing as, as per media reports, thanks for some Tamil-philics who tried, in vain, to derail this well deserved feat.

I guess, this is wot is called, 'Neighbour's Envy, Owner's Pride' ..hehehe

Anyways, Happy Karnataka Formation Day / Kannada Rajyotsava to all of you.
